JustKaren (she/her) is a self-described enthusiastically obnoxious extrovert and ethical hedonist.  She has been an active member of her local BDSM & Leather communities since 2008.  Karen acts as a committee member that runs Alternative Lifestyle Enthusiasts, a Northeast Florida-based educational munch. She also assists in facilitating and hosting events for the Polyamory in Jacksonville group. Karen is passionate about advocating for all types of Kink and Leather communities, groups, and activities.  Of particular interest to her is the education and mentoring of new people in our Lifestyle.

In this interactive session, we will discuss the issue of failure (or mistakes) in BDSM communities. Making and learning from mistakes is an important component of success. However, in the culture of S/M, Leather, and BDSM we have placed a significant amount of taboo around failure that doesn't in my view truly recognize the value of failure on our individual paths. This session will discuss this in detail and brainstorm some ways we can change this and set more positive and constructive cultural norms.
